Professional chromogenic prints

Technique which has been around for over a hundred years, chromogenic prints are an absolute classic. It may also be referred to as silver halide print, or dye coupler, the chromogenic process can start from a colour negative, transparency or a digital image. This is one of the printing techniques that we offer within our spectrum of products!

Well I used this company because it was the only one that could produce an alluminium print the size I wanted it, which was 176cm x 112cm. Catharina who I liaised with was fantastic and kept me updated with where my order was at every step. She is a credit to the company. So the customer service was great and the only part which I wasn't really impressed with was the delivery as the first time it was delivered, it was damaged on one corner but it was fine the second time. What would have been a nice touch would have been to receive a coupon/voucher for money off next order as my client did spend over £450 on the print.

The chromogenic print process

Sometimes referred to as a C-Print, the chromogenic print process is in fact a chemical reaction of dyes exposed during development. Many layers of light-sensitive gelatin are combined with three dye colours (cyan, magenta and yellow). The reaction creates different colours in every single layer.

Questions on C-Print

What does a C-print cost?

The prices for a C-print vary and depend on the photo paper and the size selected. If you order your C-print on Fujifilm paper, the price will start at £ 0.20. The price will vary the higher the quality of the paper or the larger the printing format should be (max. 300 x 180 cm).

What paper do we use for chromogenic prints?

We print photos on 5 different papers:

What formats are available?

C-prints are available in over 30 different formats. In addition to classic formats, we also offer more specialised formats such as panorama or square. We also produce custom formats on request.

How are the c-prints delivered?

Depending on the quantity and format, your chromogenic prints will be delivered in either glassine sleeves, padded envelopes or shipping cartons. In order to avoid a curling effect, c-print photographs up to 45 x 30cm are delivered flat, whereas larger formats will be shipped rolled up.

Are there discounts for bulk orders?

Commercial customers are offered attractive tiered prices for orders of just 100 prints or more. For 5,000 c-prints or more, we are happy to make you a customised offer on request.

Do c-prints have a white border?

We can produce your c-print with a 4 mm white border on request. This option can be selected during the ordering process to give the chromogenic prints a vintage look.

Which is better: A c-print with a gloss or a matte finish?

The decision is purely a question of taste. Fingerprints and smudges can quickly appear on glossy c-prints. On the other hand, glossy prints show off a greater depth of tone and have superbly brilliant colours.

If you want to frame your c-prints behind glass, however, a matte finish is preferable in order to avoid reflections.

Can I order chromogenic prints in custom sizes?

We can produce custom formats of between 87 x 127mm and 300 x 1800mm on request. These formats, too, can be printed with a white border if desired. Chromogenic prints in custom formats can be ordered from quantities of 50 prints upwards.

Are c-print photos available as express delivery?

C-print orders are generally processed by us on the same day. If required, the order can also be placed with our 24h-express delivery service. This means that delivery of your c-prints is guaranteed the next day.
